Our Distinctives
- RELATIONAL:
We are highly relational and personal. We believe the kind of change that grows and lives long is best achieved through authentic relationships built on trust. Our initiatives emerged “organically” as friends and neighbors responded to opportunities to solve problems and do good together. We are effective because we know people deeply and well.
- LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL:
From day one, YICF has been as diverse as the city of Jakarta. We have a unique combination of local presence and international character, with over 10 nationalities represented among our 100+ staff and volunteers. As a “homegrown” organization, we are rooted deeply in the local context while enjoying an international support network. Roughly half of our funding comes from partners and donors in Indonesia, while the other half comes from overseas supporters.
- INTERDISCIPLINARY: We recognize that most challenges faced by our communities are complex and multifaceted. While we are a non-profit organization, our leadership and staff include specialists and experienced professionals from the business, education, faith, development and social sectors. We draw insight and methods from different disciplines and do not limit ourselves to one way of doing things. Our ability to work across sectors and disciplines has allowed us to build fruitful partnerships and innovative solutions.
What We Do
We function as an umbrella organization for initiatives that align with our vision and mission. Through a shared service model, our YICF team works closely with program staff and leaders to add value and meet the organizational needs of each program.
We provide services and expertise in various areas including:
- Legal compliance
- Accounting, finance, and HR management
- Communications, fundraising, and donor management
- Strategic partnership development and planning
In recent years, we have also begun facilitating collaboration and the sharing of resources, knowledge, and funding opportunities across the programs. Finally, the YICF board works closely with senior leadership to ensure high standards of integrity, accountability, and cooperation within the organization.
